The October/November challenge was called "Rituals and Festivities".
Deck the halls, bring the flowers and prepare the meals - festive times
are ahead... This time we dare you to write about a festive or ceremonial
occasion in Middle Earth. It is up to you to decide what it will be.
You can make the occasion happy, sad or funny. You can make it a big
festival or a small private ceremony. How would elves celebrate their
begetting day? How does the Gondorian royal family greet the arrival
of a new life? How do the rangers bury their dead? You tell us - invent
and/or describe a tradition, ritual or ceremony for one of the races
of Middle Earth. Just make sure you invite our favourite elf and/or
ranger.
You can get your inspiration from everywhere. Since Tolkien didn't
write too much about how the peoples of Middle Earth would celebrate
certain occasions, you have free hand. Adapt a religious tradition from
your region, snatch an anthropology book from your local library or
simply let your imagination run wild. Fill Middle Earth with traditions,
rituals and festive occasions!
