One Title: Your Story

A Fairy Tale, Middle-Earth style

Games People Play

Friends in Small Places

For the October Challenge I decided on something a bit different. The new theme is Whodunit.

The "whodunit" is a variety of the detective story. The murder mystery is a puzzle and the detective is the one to find all the pieces and put the puzzle together, thereby solving the case. You all know the most famous representative of the whodunit: It's no other than Sherlock Holmes!

For the "Whodunit" theme I challenge you to write a detective story - LOTR style! Have Legolas solve the case of the mysteriously disappearing wine barrels in his father's castle. Have Aragorn find clues and solve a murder (he may even play the violin and smoke a pipe if it helps the case). Have them both be accused of a crime while they need to prove their innocence. I'm sure you have all read your fair share of detective or crime novels. How about applying your knowledge to the world of Middle Earth? It might be an original case, a historical case, a spoof, a rewriting of a detective novel you love (How about "The Hound of Rivendell" or "The Adventure of Legolas' Speckled Band"?) - anything you like, as long as our usual rules are followed.
