Trusting in You|
This Drabble Fic takes place a few years before the events of the Fellowship. It’s just some trust/friendship drabble. Based on the movies. No slash. Rated E (Everyone)
A Firm Grip
“Legolas, do you trust me?”
Well, Legolas, do you? Do you trust the ranger, the heir apparent, the king in hiding? How could you, when he hides who he truly is behind a mask of green cloth. He’s nothing more than a pretender, waiting for the right time to leap on the throne that awaits him.
No, I say to myself. Aragorn is my companion, a true friend, a warrior. He is just and pure hearted. And worthy of any crown.
But what happens if he loses his care for you? He holds your life in the balance as you hang off the cliff. He is NOT to be trusted. He is not an elf, but a MAN. And we all know men are fickle beings, sometimes even more than dwarves.
The reason I trust him is BECAUSE he holds my life in the balance. I have no other choice. Why do you doubt him so? And where did you come from, you darkness. Yes. I feel you creeping back to your hole. Away from me. I know myself, and you are not me.
“Lass?” The ranger asked, confirming his friend was alright.
The young elf glanced up at the hand that held him. Did he truly believe in his freind?
“Yes. I trust you, Mellon-nin. I trust you.”
Then, with a smile on his face, and a firm hand, The Ranger lifted the Elf back to his feet.
Thinking Out Loud
“Las, do you trust me?”
Legolas shook his head. Why was Aragorn asking him this? They were merely sitting in one of Mirkwoods trees, enjoying the last rays of sun in silence. The bird could be heard chirping up higher above them, and a slight breeze brought the fresh scent of opening buds.
“Why do you ask me this, Mellon-nin?”
Aragorn shrugged. “I was merely lending voice to my thoughts. Forgive me for disturbing you, my friend.”
“Do not trouble yourself.” Legolas stroked the edge of his ever present daggers. “And yes, of course I trust you. You are my friend. Do not doubt yourself.”
Aragorn nodded, a smile working his way onto his face. “Come my friend. I do believe there is a spring archery contest to be won tomorrow.”
The pair grinned and leapt out of the tree’s safe branches, bows in hand. And as the sun set, on the end of a glorious day, the two friends walked back to their home.
If You Insist
“Legolas, do you trust me?”
The young and pale elf nodded as much as he could. An arrow had pierced his side while hunting, and the Homely House was too far away for him to walk.
Aragorn reach down to pull back the bloodstained tunic. He’d already removed the shaft of the arrow, but the arrowhead itself had gone in deep. Legolas was bleeding out, but Aragorn was sure he could get his friend through this.
“Lass, I need you stay stay with me. I’ve send Elrohir to get help. But you need to stay awake.”
The elf mumbled something under his breath, and Aragorn tapped his cheek lightly.
“Lass, you need to talk to me. I can't hear you if you mumble.”
“Good.” Aragorn turned his attention back to the wound. “Now, I need you to keep talking. Tell me about that time when you killed 30 Orcs with your father.”
The elf perked up a bit. “Well, if you insist. See, we were…….
